World Class Collections, Research & Digitisation Centre for Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is creating a new state-of-the-art collections, research and digitsation centre at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Oxfordshire, and has appointed CPC as project managers for this exciting new scheme.

With over 80 million specimens of the world’s most valuable cultural and scientific treasures, a new home is required to accommodate part of this vast and unique collection. A home that will better protect the collection and serve future needs in terms of storage, care, access and research collaborations.

CPC’s team will provide full project management services for the design, construction and fit-out of the new building. The project will also include the careful and sensitive relocation of parts of the collection from across the museum’s estate.

When complete, the facility will house laboratories and work areas for Museum scientists, visiting researchers, collaborators and invited members of the public, along with huge climate controlled storage and archive spaces.
