Beckton Depot Upgrade
Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
As part of the DLR Rolling Stock Replacement Programme, DLR procured 43 fixed formation trains to be delivered between 2022 and 2025.
To facilitate the delivery of the new rolling stock, Beckton Depot needed to be expanded to enable the assembly, acceptance, maintenance and stabling of the new fleet. The works included the design and construction of a new Maintenance Facility Building, extensions of the sidings to the north and south, and upgrades to the power and signalling systems.
CPC were appointed by DLR to Project Manage several workstreams as part of the Rolling Stock Replacement Programme, including;
- Design, Procurement and Delivery of the Enabling Works;
- Design and Procurement of the new Northern and Southern Sidings;
- Design of the new Maintenance Facility Building, and
- Integration of all Depot Project workstreams/projects.

CPC utilised their expertise to set up and manage various design and construction contracts. CPC’s expertise in the NEC form of contracts meant that the various contracts were effectively procured and ensured workstreams were delivered to a high standard.
CPC was instrumental in obtaining planning permission for the project and discharging planning conditions in an efficient manner.
