CPC has appointed, John Orchard, as Director within its recently formed Transport Advisory division. John will be responsible for expanding its consultancy services, to deliver technical advice and strategic management of complex infrastructure schemes, predominantly in the rail sector.
John has over 25 years’ experience working on major projects for high speed, classic, metro and light rail schemes including wholescale rolling stock renewal for the Southern railway, station and train depot renewals and the management of stakeholder interfaces for large rail projects. He also has extensive experience working on major bids for rail franchises and infrastructure projects.
Beginning his career as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK construction industry, John then worked in Europe and across the Middle East, before returning to work on large scale projects in the UK.
A Chartered Quantity Surveyor and APM accredited Project Manager, John contributed to the Asset Management section of the McNulty Report and has written various technical articles for industry journals.
John has successfully managed consultancies at board-level previously, leading and growing teams with other SME businesses.
Andy Norris, CPC Partner, Transport Advisory, said “John has a wealth of experience in transport and particularly rail projects. He is well known within our industry and we have crossed paths many times over the years. I am delighted that John has decided to accept this new role within our Transport Advisory team. John’s particular focus will be to enhance our strategic rail work for clients such as the DfT and other rail clients, as part of a wider CPC plan for steady growth in 2021.”
John Orchard, CPC Director, said “This feels as though it’s something of a homecoming for me as I have previously worked for CPC, in the late 90s. Indeed, it was CPC that encouraged me to crossover from QS to PM, a switch that I have never regretted! I’ve been impressed by the way the senior team has grown and diversified against a changing economic and political backdrop over the past 10 years and am excited to be part of a committed and driven Transport Advisory team.”
