What is your current role?
I lead CPC’s Development Management Team. My team’s main focus is supporting predominantly Housing Associations but also developers, BTR and PRS providers in terms of sourcing development opportunities and also providing project management services.
What do you like most about working at CPC?
I love how varied my role is and that no day is ever the same. What attracted me to CPC was their ambition and the breadth and scale of the services that they provide, I found this really exciting!
How did you get started?
After graduating with a Masters in Town and Country Planning, I was lucky enough to get a job as a graduate within the Development Team at a large Housing Association in the North West. I spent 9 years within the social housing sector which allowed me to build a really strong understanding of the world of development and build some really strong relationships. Following this i joined CPC to set up a brand new service line to assist Housing Association in achieving their development programme and utilise the knowledge and skills that I had gained throughout my time working in social housing.
What achievements are you most proud of, since joining CPC?
I have only been at CPC for 6 months, but my biggest achievement has been setting up a brand new service line from scratch! This was a really exciting opportunity and allowed us to enhance our offer that we provide to our clients. I have been really proud of what we have achieved so far and the feedback that we have had from clients, I am really excited for what the future holds!
What’s your biggest career lesson learnt to date?
At its core, business is about relationships. No matter your job function or title, to succeed, you must interact with others. This includes your manager and colleagues as well as your clients and partners, so focus on cultivating relationships over transactions to build trust and connection.
What advice do you have for those who are thinking about a similar career to you?
Just go for it! Put simply, if you want to make a positive difference, working in housing is for you! Working in housing is not just about the bricks and mortar – it’s about making a positive difference to people’s lives, their communities and their life chances by providing them with a decent home and environment in which to live.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love travelling and exploring new places far and wide across the world! My last adventure was a week exploring Antarctica, which was absolutely amazing and very cold!! When I am at home and not working, I love spending time with family and friends.
If you had an alternative career, what would it be?
This is a bit of a random one but within my friendship group, I am known as a bit of a problem solver and a good listener. So I have always wanted to put these skills to good use and be a psychologist as I love to help people and solve problems.
