On 13 July, an 8-person strong CPC team took on the Peak District Challenge. The team hiked over 52km through Derbyshire’s amazing scenery, natural beauty, thriving wildlife and cultural heritage.
The Peak District Challenge is a new event in the Ultra Challenge event series that raises over £5m throughout the year for charities across the UK. CPC was fundraising for its charity partner – Make-A-Wish UK – who create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses
The CPC team set off early at 7am from the small market town of Bakewell to complete the 1st Half Peak District Loop. This route is considered to be the toughest course on the challenge, due to its steep ascents and descents, that took teams 1400m across the Peaks. The surrounding scenery and team spirit helped the whole team to get through some aches and pains along the way to finish in a respectable 10-hours.
Siobhan Delany, Partner, CPC Project Services said “This was a wonderful excuse to get out of the city for the weekend. There was great camaraderie from the all the entrants & organisers. Team CPC were thrilled to be doing this walk for a good cause and look forward to our next adventure.”
