With sustainability high on the agenda, CPC’s Duncan Adams spoke to ‘Project’ magazine’s Summer 2019 edition about how sustainability is currently impacting on project managers, what our responsibilities should be, and how we can contribute to improving sustainability in the future through our consultancy services.
Project magazine is the official journal for the Association for Project Management (APM), providing news, insight, and analysis of the latest trends and key themes that are at the forefront of the project management industry.
The latest edition, published in June 2019, took a closer look at sustainability in the context of project management. Property and estate developers are consistently putting BREEAM ratings – which relate to a building’s environmental and sustainable quality – high on the list of objectives, so it is a key consideration for construction project managers.
Duncan Adams, Partner, CPC Project Services told Project “For project managers, the days of just being process driven are over. We have to say ‘no’ to certain practices and push for an agenda that prioritises great design and minimises the impact on the environment”
“With contractors, we should select the ones that scrutinise their own supply chain, buy ethically, source employment locally, and minimise their carbon footprint to make sure that sustainability is followed all the way through the project lifecycle.”
