Victoria Hospital Redevelopment
Consort Healthcare were commissioned to provide a £170m extension to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy under a PPP contract, on behalf of NHS Fife. In conjunction with this project, a substantial amount of additional work was required on the existing estate to facilitate the operation of the new hospital.
CPC provided project management services for these additional works under the NEC3 contract (Option C) over a six-year period, with fixed milestones at various stages of the programme.
The work was separated into three categories –
- Pre-PPP – works which had to be completed in advance of the start of construction works on the PPP scheme, including ground clearance, decontamination and service re-diversion works
- Para-PPP – works to be carried out in conjunction with the PPP, providing essential services which had to be available for the opening of the extension, such as the new service yard, laboratories and data centre
- Post-PPP – works which could not be carried out until the PPP extension was occupied, such as conversion of disused wards into offices, and creation of a new mortuary in the old endoscopy area
