We work in close partnership with our clients to develop business cases that ensure highly successful change projects – whether physical or operational.
Organisations increasingly need to explore innovative ways to meet the challenges of achieving more for less. Whether the required change involves investing in services, staff or assets or establishing new operating models, rigorous business cases are vital to evaluate your options and make the best choices.
We passionately believe they should never be seen as burdensome tasks to ‘tick boxes’ or justify foregone conclusions, but constructive exercises to stimulate innovation and deliver project success.
We can provide a range of capital and revenue-based business cases, from the simplest options appraisal to an extensive Five Case exercise.
Our work encompasses all stages in the process from Strategic (SOC) to Commercial/Procurement (OBC) and Management/Delivery (FBC) Cases. We can also review business cases developed in-house to provide objective challenge, identify gaps and sanity-check your findings.
We place particular focus on the education and transport sectors, acting as a trusted advisor in bringing a specialist external view. And we have extensive experience in the health sector, including the Department of Health’s Capital Investment Manual.
What makes us different from most consultancies is that we can also, if required, deploy a multi-skilled team to advise on the wider aspects of change projects. And we can go on to help you to implement your initiative, drawing on our broader project and Management Consulting services.
We have a considerable track record in this field, having delivered over 100 business cases to-date.
This includes work for Sandwell PCT to underpin its investment in new and upgraded health centres in order to overhaul community treatment and reduce the burden on the acute hospital.
We’ve undertaken Five Case work for the Welsh Government and 20 of 21 Welsh local authorities as part of the Transformation Agenda to reduce duplication in education provision.
And for South London & Maudsley NHS Trust, we’ve delivered business case work for multiple capital projects to help transform mental health services across seven London boroughs.
