Rail Professional features CPC
17 February 2015
CPC’s Andy Norris discusses the UK railway’s transition to a new European Train Control System in the February 2015 edition of Rail Professional.
One of the core elements of ‘The Digital Railway’ vision is the introduction of a European Train Control System (ETCS) onto the UK’s passenger rolling stock fleet by 2025.
CPC Project Services is providing project management consultancy to support rolling stock companies to build a programme of ETCS design, fitment and testing for 30 rolling stock classes.
“Delivering a new ‘on-train’ rather than ‘on-track’ signalling system is a huge task and managing the complexities involved is like simultaneously spinning lots of plates. Keeping up the momentum is key, as the rewards for the future of the UK’s railway are obvious” says Andy Norris.
Andy is Project Director for the ETCS roll-out programme on behalf of the National Joint ROSCO Project and is speaking alongside, Network Rail, DfT, ORR, and Stephenson Harwood at Waterfront’s The Future of Rail Signalling: The Transition to ERTMS conference on 18th March 2015 in London.
