Securing CPC's place in Higher Education31 July 2014
CPC has strengthened its credentials in the Higher Education sector having recently secured a place on the prestigious University of Oxford Project Management Framework. The framework will facilitate a £900m capital investment programme that will see circa £100m invested over the coming decade.
The University’s functional estate, which excludes the main colleges, comprises 290 buildings, of which 49 are listed with building stock dating back to 1485. This estate has grown by 25% in the last 10 years and is due to grow by an additional 28% in the next 10 years.
As a result of securing a place on the framework we have been appointed to programme manage an additional 48,000 sq.m. of new teaching and research facilities at the Old Road Campus in Headington, and most recently to project manage the refurbishment and extension of the Tinbergen Building in the centre of Oxford, which will involve new laboratories and the creation of a student undergraduate teaching hub.
One of the unique aspects of working with the University of Oxford is that a significant amount of their capital funds are raised by the Professors who are world leading specialists in their field of expertise. This presents an interesting dynamic with other departments as the End Users have an increased influence on the scope and requirements of a project due to the fact that they often hold the purse strings.
By virtue of the fact that our clients are amongst the leading academics in the world the bar is set pretty high when it comes to meeting and exceeding their expectations. This is further compounded by their natural ability to review and digest data, so it is refreshing to know that your programmes and budgets will be scrutinised and critical paths questioned as to their logic.
This is a major step in CPC’s journey to be recognised as the leading programme and project management company in this sector and we look forward to securing more work with the University of Oxford in the coming months and pursuing new opportunities with other leading Universities across the UK.
